qp-exa-dynamic is an Exa-backed WebSearchProvider for the DeepSeek Harness ctx.web seam with Exa Dynamic Highlights on by default, an /exa command to change highlights, search type and result count at runtime, and an exa_search tool that reaches Exa on demand without changing the provider the rest of the profile searches with.
qp-exa-dynamic is an Exa-backed WebSearchProvider for the DeepSeek Harness ctx.web seam. The first-party @deepseek-ai/dsh-web-search-exa cannot reach Exa Dynamic Highlights - its request body is hardcoded and it never sends the required Exa-Beta: dynamic-highlights-2026-08-28 header - so this provider sends both and drops the ignored highlightsPerUrl in favour of the maxCharacters knob that actually works. Dynamic Highlights are on by default and cut highlight volume roughly fourfold (measured: 51,152 characters for the first-party default vs 12,716 here). An /exa command changes highlights, search type and result count at runtime without creating a model message, exposing all eight Exa retrieval types (the first-party schema lists only three) and reporting the real ceiling. It also registers a model-facing exa_search tool that reaches Exa directly on demand - bypassing the single-per-profile seam selection - so the profile's web_search keeps answering from its pinned provider while Exa stays one call away; with no key the tool fails loudly instead of silently falling back.
Install
dsh plugin --profile web add qp-exa-dynamicCopied verbatim from the README's install block; the README notes the package declares a dsh.bundle manifest so its bundle patch inserts the provider row, and documents an optional web row override in cordis.patch.yml to make Exa the provider web_search itself uses.
Compatibility
Tested against dsh 0.2.0-rc.2, which is what the peer ranges pin (>=0.2.0-rc.2 <0.3.0-0). Needs an Exa API key (literal config apiKey, the harness credential store under apiKeyEnv EXA_API_KEY, or the launch-environment snapshot); the key is declared role('secret'). Dynamic Highlights is a beta Exa surface and may move. English README with a Simplified Chinese translation.
