dsh-free-web-search gives DeepSeek Harness web search and fetching with no API keys. It powers the built-in web_search tool with the configured engine and automatic fallback, and adds advanced_search with time filters (day/week/month/year or custom ranges like 3d, 2mo or 2026-07-01), platform_search over GitHub repositories and Reddit threads, web_fetch for stripping a single page to plain text, and free_search_test for engine diagnostics. The default engine is Bing for stability, the settings UI manages engine choice, keys and cache TTL, and search results are cached to reduce rate limiting on public endpoints.
Install
dsh plugin --profile web add github:delef/dsh-free-web-searchCopied verbatim from the README's Install block, which notes that if pnpm blocks the build script you add the key it prints to allowBuilds in the profile's pnpm-workspace.yaml and retry.
Compatibility
No API keys required for the default path: Bing, DuckDuckGo (HTML/Lite), SearXNG and AnySearch AI are keyless, while Exa, Tavily, Keenable, Perplexity and DeepSeek Official activate when a key is added. Ten engines run with automatic fallback, and an LRU cache (50 entries, configurable TTL up to 5 minutes) reduces rate limiting. Engine selection, API keys and cache TTL are configured from Settings > Plugins > Free Web Search or settings.yaml, and /free-search-engine switches engines in chat.
