heartmove/dsh-side-chat

DSH Web side chat: Select the conversation fragment to ask questions in the side chat on the right panel (isolated by session, inherit the main session model/thinking difficulty/permissions), the AI reply can be brought back to the main session in original text or summary, and the question pop-up option can be brought in with one click

dsh-side-chat is an enhanced Codex-style side chat for DeepSeek Harness: it adds a dedicated agentic chat in a right-side panel that is scoped to the conversation it was started from and aware of its workspace. Select part of a conversation (or just open it from the current session) and ask about it in the side chat; the side chat inherits the main conversation's toolset, model, and permission preset, so it can execute tools, run code, and access the same workspace. Replies from the side chat can be brought back to the main conversation directly or as a summary — injected into the next turn so the main conversation's context reflects what the side chat discovered. Use it to explore an idea or test a hypothesis without cluttering the main conversation, then bring back only the useful parts. The panel opens in the right side of the screen, is scoped to the conversation it was started from, and closes independently from the main conversation.

npm package dsh-side-chat 0.1.2 (registry-verified 2026-08-23). Install from npm (recommended, prebuilt — no build step needed): dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-side-chat. GitHub source install: dsh plugin --profile web add github:heartmove/dsh-side-chat — a git install fetches sources and pnpm runs the prepare script (tsdown); pnpm ≥ 10 requires an allowBuilds entry in ~/.dsh/profiles/web/pnpm-workspace.yaml (dsh-side-chat: true) before re-running the add. Local checkout: dsh plugin --profile web add ./dsh-side-chat. After install, restart dsh web and hard-refresh the page (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+R).

FAQ

Can the side chat access the same tools as the main conversation?
Yes — the side chat inherits the main conversation's toolset, model, and permission preset, including tool access and workspace permissions.
How do I bring a side chat reply back to the main conversation?
From the side chat panel, choose to inject the reply directly or as a summary into the main conversation's next turn. The main conversation's context is updated with what the side chat discovered.
Does the npm install require a build step?
No — the npm package (dsh-side-chat 0.1.2) ships prebuilt lib/ and requires no build step or allowBuilds entry. Only the GitHub source install triggers a build (tsdown) and needs the allowBuilds configuration.
