stuarthu/dsh-update-notifier

Checks npm hourly for newer versions of the installed plugins and asks which ones to upgrade.

dsh-update-notifier tells you when installed DeepSeek Harness plugins have newer npm versions. Once an hour (configurable) it looks up each plugin's npm latest and compares it semver-properly with the installed version (prereleases ordered correctly, downgrades never suggested, non-X.Y.Z versions skipped). Anything newer becomes a native multi-select question bubble attached to your most recently active session — no model turn, no tokens, replayed if you reconnect. Tick the plugins you want and the agent runs the upgrade (pnpm --dir <profileDir> add <pkg>@<latest>); unreachable registry answers are counted, never passed off as up to date. The /check-updates command runs a full cycle immediately and ignores decline memory.

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-update-notifier

npm dsh-update-notifier 0.2.1 verified 2026-09-04 (repository field → github.com/stuarthu/dsh-update-notifier; README EN primary w/ zh edition). Install: dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-update-notifier, restart dsh once. Hourly registry sweep (configurable) compares every installed plugin against npm latest; newer versions appear as a multi-select question bubble in your most recently active session. Manual cycle: /check-updates. Never upgrades anything on its own.

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness profiles built on @deepseek-ai/dsh-base (the /check-updates command registry); headless profiles keep hourly checks via ctx.inject.

Sweep where nothing could be reached settles as an error, not 'no updates'; canceling the row stops the sweep.

FAQ

Does it auto-upgrade plugins?
Never on its own. It asks you in a question bubble which newer versions to install; only ticked plugins are upgraded, by the agent, in front of you.
How do I check right now instead of waiting for the hourly sweep?
Type /check-updates in a session — it runs a full registry sweep immediately against that session.
What if the registry is unreachable?
Unreachable packages are counted in the sweep result rather than reported as up to date; a sweep where nothing could be reached settles as an error.
