ChatGPT OAuth, Codex models, and gpt-image-2 tools for DeepSeek Harness

Brings your ChatGPT/Codex subscription into DeepSeek Harness for Codex models and gpt-image-2 image generation and editing without an OpenAI Platform API key or pay-as-you-go billing: you sign in once with ChatGPT OAuth and model requests use the signed-in account's subscription capacity through Harness's normal LLM service and model picker. It adds codex_image_generate for 1–4 gpt-image-2 outputs and codex_image_edit for 1–8 local PNG/JPEG/WebP references with an optional mask, an optional standalone Codex search provider and an optional view_image tool for vision-capable models. Attachments are durable with session-authorized replay, inline previews and local files under outputs/codex-image. The README lists quota-conscious defaults — automatic model retries default to 0 and image requests are never silently retried — plus fixed upstream origins, no redirects, bounded inputs/responses, cancellation, timeouts, strict image signatures and redacted provider errors.

Install

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-codex-connect-plus@beta

README Install section quoted verbatim ("Install the public npm beta"). The README's alternatives are a pinned GitHub release form — dsh plugin --profile web add 'github:stoneface10/dsh-codex-connect-plus#v0.1.0-beta.6' — and a local link form (link:/absolute/path/to/dsh-codex-connect-plus). Registry-verified live 2026-09-15: dsh-codex-connect-plus latest 0.1.0-beta.5 (published 2026-08-29) with a matching repository field (github.com/stoneface10/dsh-codex-connect-plus), so the @beta tag resolves to a published pre-release build.

Compatibility

README requirements: DeepSeek Harness 0.1.2-alpha.1 or newer (that release supplies the current pi-ai auth injection and image-request preprocessing budgets; use 0.1.0-beta.4 only with the older 0.1.0-rc.7 Harness line) and Node.js ^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0. The README labels it a community derivative, not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI, DeepSeek or the upstream Codex Connect maintainers, and notes image generation remains subject to account availability, region, limits and upstream policy.

Details

Recent updates

The README documents features, requirements and security posture rather than a release table; the newest build on the registry when checked on 2026-09-15 was 0.1.0-beta.5, with 0.1.0-beta.6 referenced as a pinned GitHub release.

FAQ

Do I need an OpenAI API key?
No — the README says authorization comes from a user-approved ChatGPT/Codex OAuth session, with no OpenAI Platform API key or pay-as-you-go billing setup.
Which Harness version do I need?
The README requires DeepSeek Harness 0.1.2-alpha.1 or newer, and says to use 0.1.0-beta.4 only with the older 0.1.0-rc.7 Harness line.
Will it retry image requests?
No — the README states image requests are never silently retried and automatic model retries default to 0 to stay quota-conscious.
