Codex skill transplant plug-in: Scan ~/.codex to batch convert the official Codex plug-in (186 plug-ins/583 skills tested on this machine, 577 were transplanted successfully at one time) to DSH skills (codex_list/port/status), frontmatter automatically converts, and is idempotent skipped

dsh-codex-port moves the whole official Codex plugin family into DeepSeek Harness: it scans ~/.codex unpacked plugins and plugin caches, then batch-ports their skills into DSH skills with automatic frontmatter conversion (Codex name/description/metadata → DSH name/description/compatibility/allowed-tools), codex-only files stripped, name sanitization, and idempotent skips. Three tools: codex_list discovers installed Codex plugins and skills (with plugin/skill filters and limit 1–200), codex_port batch-ports skills into the DSH skills directory (with plugins/skills filters, targetDir, and overwrite), and codex_status compares source vs target to show how many are left. Ported skills are immediately usable from the DSH skills directory — the agent triggers them by their descriptions. The author measured one real-machine run: 186 Codex plugins, 583 skills, 577 ported with 0 failures.

Install

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-codex-port

npm package dsh-codex-port 0.1.1 (registry-verified 2026-08-24). Install: dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-codex-port. Requires the Codex CLI to be installed (the ~/.codex directory must exist). All configuration is optional with working defaults: codexHome (default ~/.codex), targetDir (default <DSH_HOME>/skills), overwrite (default false — same-name skills are skipped). Exposes three tools: codex_list (discover Codex plugins and skills), codex_port (batch-port skills into DSH), codex_status (compare source vs target counts). Ported skills are immediately usable from the DSH skills directory; the agent triggers them by their descriptions.

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness web profile. Requires the Codex CLI installed (~/.codex must exist). Pure filesystem operations with zero runtime dependencies (yaml parsing only). Porting rules: Codex name/description/metadata → DSH name/description/compatibility/allowed-tools (multi-line descriptions preserved), codex-only files (agents/*.yaml) stripped, name sanitization (invalid chars → underscores, '..' traversal rejected outright), idempotent (same-name skills skipped by default; overwrite=true to replace). Measured on a real machine: 186 official Codex plugins, 583 skills — one port run moved 577 successfully, 0 failures.

The current English README (README.en.md) documents: installation (npm package, requires ~/.codex), optional configuration (codexHome, targetDir, overwrite), the three tools with parameters and examples, porting rules (frontmatter conversion, codex-only files stripped, name sanitization, idempotent skips, safety), and development (pnpm install, pnpm test — build + 33 tests).

FAQ

What do I need before installing?
The Codex CLI must be installed so the ~/.codex directory exists — the plugin scans unpacked Codex plugins and plugin caches there. Everything else is optional; defaults just work.
Are my existing DSH skills overwritten?
No — porting is idempotent: same-name skills are skipped by default. Set overwrite: true in the plugin config only when you want to replace same-name skills.
Does it modify the Codex installation?
No — the plugin performs pure filesystem operations (reading ~/.codex, writing to the DSH skills directory) with zero runtime dependencies, and rejects '..' traversal outright.
