Per-workspace appearance settings for DeepSeek Harness Web

Per-workspace appearance plugin for DSH Web: each workspace gets its own background color or image URL, Markdown body font size and line height, Markdown block spacing (paragraphs, lists, headings, quotes, code blocks), and a grayscale-antialiasing toggle for Retina displays. Persistence per workspace in $DSH_HOME/settings.yaml; the active appearance follows the workspace containing the current session and falls back to the most recently selected workspace; workspaces without an override inherit the active DSH theme. Host owns the custom-workspace namespace via a dedicated loopback-only /custom-workspace Connection RPC channel.

Install

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-custom-workspace

npm package dsh-custom-workspace 0.1.2 (registry-verified 2026-08-26). dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-custom-workspace then dsh web; configure under Settings → General Settings → Workspace Appearance (changes saved immediately). Remove: dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-custom-workspace. Requires DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.6, Node ^22.19 || >=24, and a loopback DSH Web session (the settings RPC intentionally rejects non-loopback browsers).

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.6; Node ^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0. Appearance affects only browser presentation — never reaches a model request or session log.

Recent updates

v0.1.2: per-workspace background/font/spacing/AA; settings.yaml persistence; loopback-only RPC; theme fallback.

FAQ

Does it affect the model?
No — workspace appearance only affects browser presentation and never reaches a model request or session log.
Can I use a background image?
Yes — a background color or image URL per workspace; the image is used directly and depends on the browser's network.
Why is the settings RPC loopback-only?
Security — the dedicated /custom-workspace Connection RPC channel accepts loopback requests only and exposes no other settings namespace; LAN-hostname browsers see the scope as unavailable.
