benzhoupo/dsh-effort-config
dsh-effort-config lets you configure reasoning-effort levels for third-party models from the DSH settings page, writing to the llm-pi-ai settings namespace. It adds a "Reasoning Effort" settings section showing only configured providers (newest first) and an add-provider header button whose candidate list puts your own providers first (hand-written routes before catalog routes; clicking an unconfigured built-in catalog route enables it). Each model can declare the seven levels off / minimal / low / medium / high / xhigh / max plus a wire spelling; nothing checked leaves the field undeclared, only off checked means no reasoning (reasoningEfforts: false), and non-off levels require a non-empty wire value. It also supports a route default level (reasoning) and Anthropic token budgets (thinkingBudgets, only for the anthropic-messages protocol), provider deletion with two-step confirmation, persistence in settings.yaml under llm-pi-ai, live sync via the native llm/adapters-updated and settings/document-updated events, and a bilingual (Chinese/English) UI.
Install
dsh plugin --profile web add /home/benzhoupo/ds-plugins/dsh-effort-configThe recommended form uses the dsh CLI, which forwards to pnpm in the web profile: dsh plugin --profile web add /path/to/dsh-effort-config; the README also documents the manual equivalent (cd ~/.dsh/profiles/web && pnpm add file:/path/to/dsh-effort-config). Then restart dsh web. The npm name dsh-effort-config was NOT found on the registry on 2026-09-30, so install from a local checkout. Uninstall with dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-effort-config. Licensed CC BY 4.0 (attribution: benzhoupo).
Compatibility
DeepSeek Harness (dsh). A pure UI plugin: the host half is empty (zero runtime imports, avoiding an ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND crash on startup) and the browser half is a hand-written ModuleLoader bundle that only requires react. It writes the llm-pi-ai settings namespace, so @deepseek-ai/dsh-llm-pi-ai must be loaded. It reuses the native model picker's Effort panel rather than reimplementing a selector -- the panel appears automatically once a model declares levels. All data flows through existing wire remotes (settings.describe/replace and llm.providers/models) with optimistic concurrency (expectedRevision plus replay-and-retry). Restart dsh web after installing so the patch row and browser bundle recompose.

The README documents the host/browser split, the write path through existing wire remotes, the level semantics and ordering rules, the differences from the dynamic Cordis plugin, the install/uninstall steps, a step-by-step usage guide, a settings.yaml example (hand-written vs catalog routes, reasoningEfforts, reasoning, thinkingBudgets), a wire-mapping cheat sheet for openai-completions / openai-responses / anthropic-messages, and a troubleshooting list (missing settings entry, unregistered namespace, empty model list, unsupported reasoning effort).
FAQ
- How do I install dsh-effort-config?
- Per the README, run dsh plugin --profile web add /path/to/dsh-effort-config (or cd ~/.dsh/profiles/web && pnpm add file:/path/to/dsh-effort-config), then restart dsh web. The npm name is not published, so install from a local checkout.
- Does it replace the model picker?
- No -- the README states level selection reuses the native model picker's Effort panel; the selector is not reimplemented and appears automatically once a model declares levels.
- Where are the settings stored?
- Per the README they are persisted in settings.yaml under the llm-pi-ai namespace and survive restarts; the model picker refreshes right after saving via the native llm/adapters-updated and settings/document-updated events.
