Raw-file SHA-256 and SHA-512 verification plugin for DeepSeek Harness

dsh-file-checksum is a small, read-only plugin that computes SHA-256 or SHA-512 for a file through the active DeepSeek Harness filesystem provider. Unlike text-hashing tools, file_checksum reads the file's raw bytes without placing its contents in the model conversation. Parameters: file_path (absolute or workspace-relative), algorithm (sha256 default or sha512), and optional expected digest — the tool returns match or mismatch. Results are structured (path, algorithm, digest, bytes, verification) for Native and Code Mode callers; a mismatch is a successful result, while missing, non-regular, oversized or unreadable files are tool errors. It reads through ctx.fs without invoking a shell, never writes or deletes, declares calls exclusive so batches cannot multiply the memory limit, and records fs/observed like the built-in file-read behavior.

Install

dsh plugin --profile web add github:yan9651688/dsh-file-checksum

GitHub/source per README (README EN primary; npm 404 verified 2026-09-04). Install: dsh plugin --profile web add github:yan9651688/dsh-file-checksum (plain ESM JavaScript — no prepare build, no pnpm allowBuilds entry), pin a commit with #<commit-sha> for reproducibility, then start the profile as usual.

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness profiles with a mounted filesystem provider (ctx.fs, incl. compatible remote providers); default 64 MiB whole-file limit (configurable up to 256 MiB via maxBytes).

Recent updates

A digest identifies content integrity — it is not encryption; the limit exists because the raw-byte filesystem API returns a complete bounded file.

FAQ

What does file_checksum verify?
SHA-256 (default) or SHA-512 of a file's raw bytes, read through the harness filesystem provider — with an optional expected digest returning match or mismatch.
Does it read file contents into the conversation?
No — it reads raw bytes without placing contents in the model conversation and returns only digest, byte count and verification status.
What is the file size limit?
64 MiB by default, configurable up to 256 MiB via the maxBytes row; the raw-byte filesystem API returns a complete bounded file rather than a stream.
