Hand off focused context without waiting for or interrupting the active Agent: freeze a bounded Session snapshot, summarize it asynchronously with an isolated no-tool LLM, and deliver a provenance-bearing capsule to another Session or an authorized Room—quiet by default for Sessions, with explicit wakeup available.
Sideband is an asynchronous context relay for DeepSeek Harness: it moves a bounded context capsule from one DSH Session to another — or optionally to an Agent Team Room — for the moment when the source agent is still working and you do not want to wait, interrupt or steer that turn. The command is not a prompt: /sideband runs on the native command plane and never enters the source model. The snapshot happens now (visible text frozen at the command boundary, including partial assistant output already streamed); an isolated, tool-free reducer LLM call treats the transcript as untrusted data; the work is asynchronous (a job id returns immediately, summary and delivery continue in a detached process-local worker). Delivery is explicit: quiet leaves context for the destination's next turn, wakeup schedules a destination turn. Every capsule carries provenance — job, source, timestamps, command boundary, scope, focus and delivery mode.
