Aloneswork/deepseek-harness-codex-bridge

deepseek-harness-codex-bridge is an unofficial local MCP bridge that lets Codex and DeepSeek Harness work on the same job. Codex stays in charge: it can send a bounded subtask to DSH, receive progress and evidence through a persistent mailbox, reply, and verify the final result, while DSH can also start or continue a real Codex task while DSH is running. The bridge blocks circular hand-offs (an agent must do its assigned subtask instead of returning it unchanged). The MCP server exposes four tools -- delegate_to_deepseek (create and run a DSH-owned task headlessly), list_deepseek_messages (read progress, evidence, questions, blockers, results), reply_to_deepseek, and get_bridge_task_status -- and DSH can send progress or ask a question from its shell with dsh-codex-mail send / dsh-codex-mail chat.

Install

npm install --global https://github.com/Aloneswork/deepseek-harness-codex-bridge/releases/download/v0.2.2/deepseek-harness-mcp-bridge-0.2.2.tgz && codex mcp add deepseek_harness -- deepseek-harness-mcp

This is a local MCP bridge installed globally and registered into Codex, not a dsh plugin bundle. Requirements per the README: macOS or Linux, Node.js >= 22.19.0, DeepSeek Harness installed and configured, and the Codex CLI with codex app-server (the last is needed only for proactive DSH -> Codex chats). Install DSH first, then run the two commands above. The tarball installs two binaries: deepseek-harness-mcp (a stdio MCP server used by Codex) and dsh-codex-mail (a mailbox / proactive-chat CLI available to DSH through Bash). The README also documents a from-source path (git clone, npm install, npm test). No registry package is claimed.

Compatibility

macOS or Linux; Node.js >= 22.19.0; DeepSeek Harness installed and configured; Codex CLI with codex app-server for proactive DSH -> Codex chats. No database server or resident daemon is required; messages and task records default to ~/.dsh-codex-bridge/ with local-only file permissions. Delegated prompts are limited to 16,000 characters.

Details

Recent updates

The README documents the four MCP tools and the mailbox CLI commands, the 16,000-character delegated-prompt limit, default ~/.dsh-codex-bridge/ storage with local-only permissions, the 900000 ms default bridge timeout, and the optional DSH_BIN / CODEX_BIN / DSH_CODEX_MAILBOX_DIR / DSH_BRIDGE_TIMEOUT_MS / DSH_CODEX_CHAT_TIMEOUT_MS variables. It also ships a recommended collaboration rule and a one-line agent prompt.

FAQ

How do I install the Codex <-> DeepSeek Harness bridge?
Per the README: install DSH and configure a model first, then run npm install --global https://github.com/Aloneswork/deepseek-harness-codex-bridge/releases/download/v0.2.2/deepseek-harness-mcp-bridge-0.2.2.tgz and register it with codex mcp add deepseek_harness -- deepseek-harness-mcp. macOS or Linux with Node.js >= 22.19.0 is required.
What gets installed?
Two binaries: deepseek-harness-mcp (a stdio MCP server) and dsh-codex-mail (a mailbox and proactive-chat CLI the model calls through Bash). The README lists the four MCP tools and the DSH-side progress/chat commands.
Is it a DSH plugin I add with dsh plugin add?
No. It is installed globally with npm and registered into Codex as an MCP server; the README notes no database server or resident daemon is required and mailbox data stays in local JSON files.
