RENIE-ROBIN/deepseek-harness-desktop
Wraps the DeepSeek Harness Web GUI (dsh web) in an Electron desktop app: clicking the icon starts DeepSeek Harness and opens the UI with no terminal needed; closing the window keeps the app in the system tray (Windows) or menu bar (macOS) with the harness still running, and clicking the tray icon brings the window back. The README documents tray actions — show the window again, Open DeepSeek Harness, Restart Harness service (kill and restart the backend), Open log directory (desktop.log / harness.log), and Quit, which fully exits and kills only the harness it started, never an external one.
Install
./install.shREADME install: on Windows use native PowerShell — git clone https://github.com/RENIE-ROBIN/deepseek-harness-desktop.git dsh-desktop, cd dsh-desktop, .\install.ps1; on macOS/Linux (or Git Bash on Windows) the same clone then ./install.sh. On macOS the app installs to /Applications/DeepSeek Harness.app; on Windows the Start Menu and Desktop get a DeepSeek Harness icon. The easiest Windows path is the release asset DeepSeekHarness-Setup-1.0.0.exe — no clone or build needed. Requirements: Node.js >= 22 with npm (only needed when building from source), and Windows 10/11, macOS or Linux.
Compatibility
Windows 10/11, macOS and Linux. Built with Electron Forge (the README badges Electron 43 and Node >=22). Ships @deepseek-ai/dsh so no global install is required, and if a harness is already running on port 3080 it is reused instead of starting a second one. If github.com is unreachable, the install scripts automatically fall back to the npmmirror mirror for the Electron binary download.

FAQ
- How do I install DeepSeek Harness Desktop (RENIE-ROBIN)?
- On Windows the easiest way is the DeepSeekHarness-Setup-1.0.0.exe release asset (no clone or build). Alternatively clone the repo and run ./install.sh (macOS/Linux) or .\install.ps1 (Windows PowerShell).
- What happens when I close the window?
- The window hides and the app stays in the system tray (Windows) or menu bar (macOS) while the harness keeps running; click the tray icon to bring it back. Quit from the tray fully exits and kills only the harness it started.
- Does it start a second harness if one is already running?
- No — it probes http://127.0.0.1:3080 and attaches to an existing harness instead of starting another, and it bundles @deepseek-ai/dsh so no global install is required.
