NoWint/DeepSeekHarness-Desktop

Cross-platform Electron desktop shell for DeepSeek Harness

A cross-platform Electron desktop client for DeepSeek Harness that launches the harness server (dsh web) as a local background process and loads the Harness UI in a native window, adding workspace selection, recent-project history and diagnostics. The harness runtime itself is the upstream @deepseek-ai/dsh package; this project only adds the desktop shell around it. The README documents per-OS data locations for app data, DSH_HOME (app data + /harness) and logs (app data + /logs).

Install

pnpm install && pnpm package

README is a developer guide rather than an end-user install page: build the Electron shell from source with pnpm install then pnpm package for the current OS (pnpm package:all builds every platform but requires platform-native runners); packaged artifacts are written to out/. pnpm dev runs it in development mode; pnpm typecheck, pnpm lint and pnpm test are also documented. Prerequisites: Node.js 22.20.0+ (see .node-version), pnpm 10.x (via Corepack or manual install) and dsh available on your PATH (npm i -g @deepseek-ai/dsh).

Compatibility

macOS (Apple Silicon, x64), Windows x64 and Linux x64 are all marked supported. Sandboxing behaviour differs by OS: Linux uses bubblewrap/Landlock where available, macOS uses sandbox-exec, and Windows has no documented sandbox equivalent. The wrapper targets upstream DeepSeek Harness, which the README notes is currently in developer preview and may change without notice.

Recent updates

README carries upstream attribution (it wraps DeepSeek Harness under MIT; the desktop shell code is also MIT, with full dependency license attribution in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md) and a developer-preview caveat that features may change without notice. Contributing details live in CONTRIBUTING.md.

FAQ

How do I build DeepSeek Harness Desktop (NoWint)?
From source: pnpm install, then pnpm package (artifacts land in out/) or pnpm dev for development. pnpm package:all needs platform-native runners. Prerequisites are Node.js 22.20.0+, pnpm 10.x and dsh on PATH.
What does it add on top of DeepSeek Harness?
A native Electron window: it launches dsh web as a local background process, loads the Harness UI in the window, and adds workspace selection, recent-project history and diagnostics. The runtime is the upstream @deepseek-ai/dsh package.
Where does it keep its data?
Per the README table: app data under ~/Library/Application Support/DeepSeek Harness/ (macOS), ~/.config/deepseek-harness/ (Linux) or %APPDATA%\DeepSeek Harness\ (Windows), with DSH_HOME and logs as subdirectories of app data.
