The web search plugin for DeepSeek Harness, and the search bridge for every model without native web access
ModSearch is a web search, X (Twitter) search, and page-fetch plugin for DeepSeek Harness -- filling the gap for models like DeepSeek and GLM that have no native web access. The default engine is Firecrawl Keyless, giving you 1,000 free search credits per month with zero configuration. When one engine fails, ModSearch automatically falls back through the chain (Firecrawl -> Antigravity -> Tavily -> Exa -> local). X search and single-page fetch are included alongside standard web search. By the authors of ModLens (the vision companion plugin).
Install
dsh plugin --profile web add @liustack/modsearchNo account, no API key required for the default Firecrawl Keyless engine (1,000 free credits/month). For additional search capacity, optional API keys for Tavily, Exa, or a personal Firecrawl key can be added in plugin settings. Update via: dsh plugin --profile web update @liustack/modsearch

FAQ
- Does ModSearch require an API key?
- No. The default engine -- Firecrawl Keyless -- gives you 1,000 free search credits per month with no account, no API key, and no credit card. You only need keys if you want additional quota from Tavily, Exa, or a paid Firecrawl account.
- What happens when the free Firecrawl credits run out?
- ModSearch automatically tries the next engine in its failover chain: Antigravity CLI (requires a one-time browser sign-in), then Tavily, Exa, and finally a local engine. You can add free API keys from Tavily or Exa to extend coverage. The failover is automatic -- no user intervention needed.
- Can ModSearch search X (Twitter)?
- Yes -- X search is a built-in capability alongside standard web search and single-page fetch. Configure Grok (X) as a search engine for native X result quality when you have an X Premium subscription.
