DSH plugin: recall tool - the model can search and read the complete event log of its own session, including content obscured by compaction; dsh plugin add can be installed with one command

dsh-remind gives the model a remind tool that searches and reads the calling agent's own session log -- the complete durable event history, including events shadowed by compaction. Compaction never deletes events: it replaces a visible history range with a summary checkpoint and the replaced events stay in the durable log classified as shadowed, and remind is the official way back to that content (surfaces: ["shadowed"] retrieves pre-compaction events verbatim; seq reads any exact event). Arguments are query (required, space-separated keywords, all must match), max_results (1-10, default 10), and surfaces (current / shadowed / log-only). Hits rank by rarity and density (newest wins ties) with a CJK 2-4 char n-gram fallback; long events are truncated around the first match; text is NFKC-normalized and lowercase; the tool's own rows are echo-suppressed.

Install

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-remind

npm package dsh-remind 0.3.4 (registry re-verified 2026-09-30; repository field back-links to github.com/fengshenx/dsh-remind, MIT). Prerequisites: DSH (dsh web works), Node.js >= 20, pnpm >= 10 (needed by the dsh plugin command). Because the package declares dsh.bundle.patch, installation registers it automatically and it mounts on the next start -- no config-file edits. Since remind is a host-side tool, one restart of dsh web is required. A local-path install (dsh plugin --profile web add /path/to/dsh-remind) is documented for pre-publish testing.

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness web; Node.js >= 20; pnpm >= 10 (for the dsh plugin command). Read-only access to the calling agent's OWN session log only (no cross-session access).

Recent updates

The README documents that maxResults and maxCharsPerEvent (default 20000) are required deployment config in the mount row; that a session that never compacted returns guidance instead of an empty result list; that events of the current step are always excluded; and that a fork inherits its parent's completed-turn log prefix so it can recall parent history. The shadowed surface classification reuses buildSessionEventRecords from @deepseek-ai/dsh-session-query.

FAQ

How do I install dsh-remind?
Run dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-remind, then restart dsh web once (it is a host-side tool). Node.js >= 20 and pnpm >= 10 are required; no config-file edits are needed.
What does it recall?
Per the README, the calling agent's own complete durable event history -- including events shadowed by compaction, which surfaces: ["shadowed"] retrieves verbatim. It never reads other sessions.
How does ranking work?
Hits are listed by relevance: rare (long) terms and higher density rank first, newest wins ties; CJK terms get 2-4 char n-gram fallback matching so rewritten long Chinese phrases still recall.
